Today, the Book and Periodical Council’s Freedom of Expression Committee announced that Co-Campaign Directors Spencer Izen and Jessica Kim have been named the Champions of Free Expression for 2023 for advocating for the rights of student journalists.

Why We Need The Student Press Freedom Act
Unjustifiable censorship, particularly of public interest student journalism, is profoundly antithetical to a free and democratic society and should not be tolerated. The SPFA will prevent it from occurring in BC’s public schools.
